Ed Nash Releases New Solo Track ‘When’

Bombay Bicycle Club’s Ed Nash releases his new solo track ‘When’ – streaming below.

Speaking about the track, Ed says: “‘When’ started out as a simple two and a half minute lo-fi song that I came up with late one night. Each section I added I liked more so I kept going and when I was done, the two and a half minute pop song that I had planned had morphed into a different beast all together. As you listen to the track you can hear it change shape as it did when I was making it… from sweet pop song to full band wig out.”

‘When’ follows Ed’s recent track ‘Think You Feel The Same’ and is the latest track from a new solo project, to be released on Ed’s own label, Bangers & Nash

Ed’s own vision and his carefully crafted curations are always some of the most serene projections. This delicate instrumentation will utterly compel you, as the soft guitar noodles away with the luscious vocals lifting the track, you find yourself in awe carefully following the standout lyrics. Then the track breaks out to showcase more intense intertwining guitar notes, repetitive lyrics and a feel-good essence, Ed Nash has created some a wistful anthem. The lyrics give the audience hope and a real connection.

Of the track Ed comments “It’s been some time since I’ve been in touch but I’ve got good news.

I’m going to start putting out tracks / EPs / albums frequently, as and when they are ready, and move away from putting out an album every few years like I have in the past.

After initially spending some time writing and recording a follow-up to the first Toothless album, I realised I wanted to do things differently.  The music I was writing felt increasingly more personal, both lyrically and sonically than the music I put out under Toothless.  Labouring over a record for years no longer feels productive for what I’m doing, where I want to just write songs and get them out to you as quickly as possible.

I’m also going to be releasing music under my own name going forward, with the change in approach and sound putting music out under Toothless didn’t feel right to me. I don’t want to use a moniker when everything else about the project is so personal and homegrown.

All that to say I’m going to put out a new song later this week with much more to come over the next few months.

Hope everyone is doing well,

Ed x
