SUSANNA

Shares new single & video “The Vampire”
Album ‘Baudelaire & Piano’ due Sept 11th via SusannaSonata

Susanna is sharing a new single & video from her upcoming album ‘Baudelaire & Piano‘, which is set release Sept 11th via SusannaSonata. “The Vampire” is streaming online now.

‘The Vampire’ was one of six poems from Baudelaire’s masterpiece which was forbidden by law, and censored for being ‘obscene’ in Paris in 1857. That is interesting in itself, but I was first and foremost struck by the intensity in the poem. The vampire is a strong image of being captured in an emotional, almost abusive, chaos”  Susanna says.

Expanding on the visuals for the track, Susanna said “Carsten Aniksdal and Sølve Sæther has made a beautiful video from the forest, where the shadows make the light break through, even though vampires quite possible is lurking around. Aniksdal is also a part of the release concert performance at Henie Onstad Art Center with film and video material.”

This is the forth single from the upcoming album ‘Baudelaire & Piano’ where Susanna has used 10 poems by Charles Baudelaire (1821-67) from his masterwork The Flowers of Evil (translated by Anthony Mortimer) as the backbone for ten new songs. Recorded at Atlantis Studio in Stockholm, the album is a complete solo effort by Susanna, stripped back to just her expressive, soulful voice and skeletal, trancelike piano playing.

Susanna continues to gain such traction within her expressive vocal attributes, the striking new album will move you. “The Vampire” is a truly immersive orchestration.
