HOT CHIP ANNOUNCE LATE NIGHT TALES AND RELEASE ETHEREAL COVER OF THE VELVET UNDERGROUND’S ‘CANDY SAYS’
THE FULL RELEASE IS OUT VIA NIGHT TIME STORIES ON 2ND OCTOBER
UK electronic artpop outfit Hot Chip provide the perfect antidote to these strange and uncertain times with the latest release in the hugely popular LateNightTales artist-curated series.
Alongside their own ethereal cover of The Velvet Underground’s ‘Candy Says,’ the band have selected music from some of the most engaging artists of the 21st century, taking in pulsating electronic rhythms, hypnotic grooves and leftfield ambience.
Singer Alexis Taylor had this to say on the cover: “’Candy Says’ is a favourite of ours, and is a song that Joe and I used to perform at school concerts when Hot Chip was first beginning in the late ‘90s. It was nice to return to it now and make a new version of the song, paying tribute to that wonderful original Velvet Underground record.”
An incredible cover.
The LateNightTales series was established back in 2001 with Fila Brazillia taking to the controls and mixing up the first of what would continue to be the first choice of music connoisseurs worldwide. Since then, the series has seen releases from the likes of The Flaming Lips, Floating Points, David Holmes, Bonobo, Jon Hopkins, Röyksopp and many more.
Hot Chip’s performance at Dreamland on Saturday 5th September will be globally live streamed.
