Rosehip Teahouse Release New EP “Chillin In The Void”
Out Now Via Sad Club Records
On August 14th Cardiff five-piece Rosehip Teahouse (Faye, Tony, Will, Josh and Teddy) celebrated the release of their outstanding EP release “Chillin In The Void”.
The record is described as taking you on a journey through lovelorn landscapes and drop you off home just in time for tea. With gorgeous vocal harmonies, twinkling guitars and heartfelt lyrics, Rosehip Teahouse carry the indie-pop essence. Formed originally by Faye Rogers (Guitar & Vocals) back in 2015, playing only a small number of house shows and DIY gigs, Faye crafted these subtle and delicate songs, which command your attention, from start to finish.
Recorded DIY style, using any means possible, Faye was later joined by friend Will Dickins (Drums). Since the early Bandcamp singles, have formed a densely layered, full band with Tony Williams (Guitar), Josh Dickins (Bass) and Teddy Hunter (Keys), playing several intimate shows in and around Cardiff.
‘This EP was made by myself and the genius that is Alice Low (of ‘Low’s Museum’) in a single night in our flat in Cardiff. I’d been finding the lockdown so draining, but making this EP really allowed some light back into it all. We sat on the carpet for 10 hours or so and when it was done, ran it through our reel to reel tape machine. It felt really nostalgic making this record.’
‘Rosehip Teahouse started as me sat at home recording songs as best I could, muddling my way through learning how to use equipment and trying to guess how it all worked. This was no different! I miss my bandmates so much and I can’t wait to get back into a room with them all and hug them to death.’

Of the new 5 track release, opener “It’s The Wrong Time” sets the stage for this act. Creating ominous elements assist in the reflective atmosphere. Repetitive lyrics of the song-title hook the audience with the emotive appeal but it’s the carefully crafted experimentation which contributes to the power of this new record.
Following that expansive orchestration the record flows into the second single ‘Regretting it‘- this is easily one of the most mythical and meaningful compositions of the year. A melodic marvel which in just 2 minutes 47, will solidify you as a fan. The vocals just wrap around you, they really reach for the audience and a warmth is found within the backbone of this arrangement. Capturing real emotions within the harmonies that have been crafted. Yet the lyrics themselves are contemplating, brooding and with an aura of intensity, all of which cleverly captured in a vibrant, playful, and somewhat upbeat projection. The lows, found in the isolating lyrics are captured in a whimsical effort and mixed to have a sentimental spin.
The third track on the record ‘Thought Number 3‘ confirms Rosehip Teahouse are embracing the creative reawakening of sincere pop, this act are lyrically strong and continue to provide stirring emotional indie-pop at it’s very best. At only 1 minutes 45, ‘Thought Number 3‘ is a powerful and enchanting new release, sustaining a gentle and provoking atmosphere within a short time frame. Highlighting the tentative vocals and reflective tones from Faye and the lasting twinkling notes that shimmer against the lustrous harmonies. This short yet special track feels like a soft serenade, the sincere nature of Rosehip Teahouse’s captivating songwriting skills are enriched by the acts’ musical sensibilities. This poetic lyrical touch is an enlightening experience from an act that has this genuine prolific creative output. Emotive and embracing, this track feels more like a lullaby compared to the dark depths of the lyrical journey.
There are few singers in this world that can truly harness and control emotive power within their vocal abilities and range, but Faye is a talent that owns this ability- a truly expressive artist. We want to see Rosehip Teahouse tour with the likes of Lomelda for the best of emotional engaging pop-triumphants.
Space To Think follows as the penultimate single on this record, the chords and projection provide a more pensive outlet for this track. Bellowing yet dominant vocals are lifted with the plucking of the notes before gentle electronic elements aid to the immersive atmosphere. The instrumentation sways gently whilst the vocals are the expressive key to this release.
Finally the serene finale is approached by the engrossing soundscape of “Light Footed, For Once“. Rosehip Teahouse have carefully crafted each element found within their compositions, emotions are channelled within each vocal note and raw lyrical passage caught effortlessly on this record.
Rosehip Teahouse creates an atmosphere so honest and so raw- despite that atmosphere altering its dynamic course throughout the record. This EP captures life, captures the vivid truth of human emotion and its relayed with the perfect song structures. ‘Chillin In The Void‘ is breath-taking. A perfect record that will mesmerize. The magnitude of honesty captured throughout these 5 tracks will leave you in awe.
