Wolverhampton based solo artist set to release Knockin’, the second single from her 3rd EP, State I’m In

After announcing her signing to Beth Shalom Records with her latest single, I Can Be,and upcoming EP, State I’m In, Wolverhampton based singer-songwriter, Bryony Williams, is set to release the 2nd single from the EP, Knockin’on August 28th.

After self-releasing two EP’s in her musical career so far, Bryony weaves in and out of the indie pop/rock realm and creates her own signifying sound. In recent years Bryony has been championed by BBC Introducing, with making her 2019 single, Little Tree, BBC West Midlands’ Track of the Month, along with support from Tom Robinson on Radio 6, and her latest single, I Can Begaining support from Spotify Editorial and received strong press coverage.

Discussing the upcoming single and opening track the EP, Bryony states: “Knockin’ encapsulates my take on depression and how intrusive it is. It’s an outcry of ownership mixed with a whole lot of anger because it can hit at any moment and goes on the invisible attack. Which is why so much of the instrumentation is a new level of aggression for me, like distorting the hell out of the floor tom and using it as the introductory monotonous beat. It’s a reflection of what it’s like to be stuck in your own little head.”

Knockin starts with a fitting drum beat- knockin away opening up the atmosphere to this heightened track. The thumping almost marching like drum beat fills the space, a somewhat progressive rhythm is then joined by the integral notes and chords of the guitar gradually amping up the soundscape with the carefully controlled yet expansive noise- pairing the combination to dynamically alter this composition. Then Bryony Williams belts out the first notes and showcases the extensive range of this artists’ vocal capabilities. The fierce lyrics melodically delivered from Williams– throughout this track Bryony has this flawless ability to command the listeners full attention. The courageous vocal execution exudes this attitude which mimics the likes of Alison Mosshart. That intense yet honest attitude captured within the harmonies and the crucial transmission.

The EP, State I’m In, will be released via Beth Shalom Records on October 30th on Limited Edition Vinyl, which will be accompanied by Bryony’s critically acclaimed 2018 EP, Conscious.
