“Nature in Three Movements” is the first public offering put forth by Daughters frontman Alexis Marshall, a stand-alone single recorded during the session that yielded his upcoming debut album.

Recorded at Machines with Magnets in Pawtucket, RI with the musical assistance of Jon Syverson (Daughters) and Evan Patterson (Jaye JayleYoung Widows), the song is a ferocious marriage of relentless percussive battery, dissonant guitar work, industrial throb, and Marshall’s signature invectives, like Junkyard-era Birthday Party grafted with early Einstürzende Neubauten.

Marshall describes the experience of making the material as “the painstaking process of creating and honouring, pretending to know and asking for aide, questioning and conquering, and the pale, unending anxiety nipping at the heel. This past life come current is at last the realised direction of many excruciating years beneath the wheel. The evaluation process has grown enjoyable, the evaluation process is, at last, its own reward and the hands involved have made me a better human being; without these hands, I would surely have crashed to burn. Thank you all.I cull the hammer. I wield the hammer. I eat, breathe, sleep, shit, fuck the hammer.”

Marshall defines his own course within his song-writing skills and lyrical abilities, which he adapts within the intensity of the story and its fierce execution. With this ferocious new single release, you find this story-telling skill, this lyrical poetry that he has portrayed in such an honest account- this is more of an awakening, especially to the audience. You feel the pain of this track, you feel the immediate nature, you feel the emotion and the flurry. In ‘Nature In Three Movements’, there are no limits, it’s fierce, brash, and exudes brutality. The crushing lyrics fight against the abrasive and damning drum beats and crashes whilst this colossal wave of noise runs havoc with your senses.

Sargent House is proud to release “Nature in Three Movements” to the world in 2020, with his upcoming debut album currently scheduled for release in early 2021.
