Shares new single ‘Cheerleader’

Taken from ‘Yellow Brick Road’ EP
due August 14th

Dylan Cartlidge burst back onto the scene at the height of lockdown with the effervescent ‘Yellow Brick Road’ – his first single in just short of a year. Despite the complex times, it was certainly worth the wait with the track gaining brilliant support across the globe with radio plays from BBC R1 (Annie Mac / Jack Saunders / Huw Stephens), 6 Music (Tom Robinson), Beats 1 (Matt Wilkinson), Amazing Radio, KCRW and KROQ – and currently climbing the US Alternative Radio Chart.

To follow up – Dylan is pleased to share his new track ‘Cheerleader’. The upbeat, urgent track is an anthem for positivity and implores you to face the day – and life’s challenges – with a smile (and a shake of a pom-pom). It will feature on his forthcoming EP alongside the previously released ‘Yellow Brick Road’ and third track ‘Summertime’.

On the new single Dylan said:
“For me Cheerleader has a lot to do with self-esteem, stereotypes and finding a place to fit in. The whole song is based on the way growing up and establishing your identity is displayed in Hollywood movies and how that on-screen portrayal syncs up with real life.

Ultimately, it’s about not conforming to stereotypes and being your own Cheerleader, one that’s always rooting for your own unique flavour & individuality.”

Hailing from a small town in the North-East of England, Dylan Cartlidge has long since embraced the phrase “Hope Above Adversity” as his motto. Musically, Dylan boasts a unique talent for deconstructing and subverting genres that he honed in his teenage years. It’s a stylistic mix that’s reflected in his unique image: timelessly cool afro; Americana-inspired Hawaiian shirts; Elvis-style cuban collars. While no two of his songs are quite the same, the constants are a boundary-squashing, scattergun approach to genre, and an ability to connect with the deeper fabric of British society in these increasingly troubled times.
