KIDSMOKE RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘A VISION IN THE DARK’
OUT NOW VIA LIBERTINO RECORDS
Kidsmoke consists of Lance, James, Sophie & Ash and together the band create dreamy indie-pop, capturing a 90’s indie vibe yet projecting something uniquely of their own accord. The band are now celebrating the release of their ingenious record found within ‘A Vision In The Dark’.
The new project follows on from a thriving 2019, which saw the quadruple accumulate a monumental list of credits under their belt, including showcasing at SXSW in Austin, Texas. The bands uplifting track ‘Passenger’ (the album’s opener) was chosen for NPR’S Austin 100 playlist, and has since featured on E4’s ‘Made In Chelsea’, alongside single ‘Rising Sun.’ This continued the pathway of opportunities for Kidsmoke, which saw them secure a sync on Netflix’s ‘Black Mirror’ with their track ‘Take Me to the River.’
A Vision in the Dark addresses topics such as helplessness, relationship dilemmas, negative influences, and even those moments when you have to sit back and laugh at yourself.
Infectious from the first sweeping note on this outstanding album. Kidsmoke have created an 11 track indie-pop sensation, an album that will captivate all- at whatever time they discover this masterpiece. This record is completely immersive and was built to last.
The innovative experience starts with the whimsical ‘Passenger’. The opening track perfectly sets the mood for the journey you’re about to embark on. Sweeping notes chime throughout the album, respectfully filled on “Colourfield”. Whereas “Higher” focuses on the serene vocal range and elongated notes which mesmerizes and creates such a dreamy atmosphere. Kidsmoke carefully controls the ambiance of this album with such intricate details. Ending the lustrous rhythms they’ve projected throughout the album- “The Bluest You” brings a more surreal and intimate essence to the collection. They end the record on an emotional song that builds delicately on the shimmering notes they’re known for.
Each musician’s skills just shine throughout the album- together they have created soft arrangements resonating in melody and melancholy. They flirt with the fine line between fun and somber. Their upbeat wholesome tracks carry the flow, yet at times dark lyrics can underpin the sunny projections. You find yourself conflicted between the message and the vibrance. If you’re moving with the beat and not hanging on every last lyric then you’ll notice that the impeccable use of their complementing vocal harmonies and their soaring use of effects, all of which simply transport you to another place.
‘A Vision In The Dark’ in its entirety fills your world with melody. An elegant effulgent of perfectly written, perfectly created, perfectly captured rich indie-pop orchestrations. Kidsmoke are radiant, this album will forever shine.
