Jerry Joseph
shares latest single “Full Body Echo”
from forthcoming album
The Beautiful Madness

out August 21st

New tour dates announced
with the Drive-By Truckers for 2021

Jerry Joseph releases his second single “Full Body Echo” which premiered on Relix. His new album The Beautiful Madness (produced by Patterson Hood)with the  Drive-By Truckers serving as his backing band is being released August 21st via Décor Records.

In an album featuring a number of politically charged songs, “Full Body Echo” is an anomaly for Joseph, a feel-good song, and perhaps a strange choice for release during a time of vast social unrest. Jerry elaborates, “Sometimes, rarely in my case, pop songs pop out. I was speaking to (if I even gave it a thought), the way the people of one’s past haunt their psyche, like ghosts and in this case, I was speaking more to past intimacy. “Full Body Echo” is my attempt at something that feels good without a deep introspective essay attached.”

When thinking about a visual for this song, Jerry reached out to musician Abe Partridge, whose art and videos he has long admired.  Jerry explains, “His ability to keep a child-like wonder in his music as well as his paintings, leaves me in awe. He was the perfect person to do the video for this song because he got it. Three minutes of visuals that make HIM feel good, it’s beautiful and simple”
“Full Body Echo” was written in Betty’s Bay, South Africa while Jerry was on tour there. The grandson of Lebanese, Syrian and Irish Catholic immigrants who grew up traveling the globe, Joseph’s love of travel and global politics was instilled early in life. He has long been drawn to far-flung places, which has led him to perform in destinations like Brazil, Israel, Cambodia and Lebanon.

The Beautiful Madness was recorded at Matt Patton’s studio, Dial Back Sound, in Water Valley, Mississippi. The band, christened The Stiff Boys by Joseph is the Drive-By Truckers full line up. They recorded the album in six days. Jason Isbell played slide guitar on the track “Dead Confederate.” Kyleen King (Brandi Carlisle, The Shins, Stephen Malkmus) played viola and Little Sue Weaver added harmonies.

“Full Body Echo” follows lead single “Days of Heaven”.
