Release New Single ‘We’ll Talk’

New EP ‘Pre Invented World’ Out 5 June

Yorkshire’s much loved three-piece PEAKES recently marked their return with the AA-side singles On The Other Side,’ and A Sacred Place and today release another vivid, alt-pop hymn in the shape of their new single ‘We’ll Talk’ which is being released today via Practise Music. Previous single ‘A Sacred Place’ was recently played by Huw Stephens on his BBC Introducing show and was described by The Line of Best Fit as “beautiful and understated”.

‘We’ll Talk’ is amongst the most cinematic sounding songs Leeds band PEAKES have released to date, with propulsive drums and cold-wave synths combining to create the perfect foil for Molly Puckering’s most arresting vocal performance to date. ‘We’ll Talk’ is, at turns, both claustrophobic and expansive, with lyrics that deal in anxiety and alienation serenely sung over rich and resounding electronic structures, it’s a sound defined by its shifting walls.

Molly on the track: “It’s about the breakdown of a relationship and the decision of one person to cut their losses and walk away. When someone you care about continues to make bad choices and you’re left with knowing that you have to stop seeing this person even when you’ve invested so much time and care into the relationship.”

A truly electronic emotive soundscape has been produced in the new single. PEAKES keep upping the bar and their compositions continue to elate their audience.

The forthcoming EP ‘Pre Invented World’ was produced by Tim Bran and Roy Kerr (Aurora, Rae Morris, London Grammar) and demonstrates a powerful step forward in the group’s songwriting whilst still maintaining the understated elegance that makes them such an exciting proposition.

Vocalist Molly Puckering is a lone voice up front, her searingly personal vocals channel a rare degree of emotion amid beautifully balanced electronics from Maxwell Shirley and concise rhythms from Peter Redshaw.
