NEW LUNA Release New Single ‘Prunus’ Out Now

Reaffirming their undisputed potential at the heart of the city’s alternative scene, Mancunian risers New Luna share compelling new single ‘Prunus’, set for release May 27th.

New Luna · Prunus

Prunus has a rebellious nature. A gritty and totally consuming new release from this band. Intense instrumentation with alluring vocals. Prunus is a deep arrangement on many levels, with layers of robust and abrasive tones and lyrics that mesmerize. A bold release from a vivacious act that you need. New Luna have a charm to their outlook, take in this talent.

Concocting a heady mix of post-punk and dream pop to sublime effect, the band’s latest effort channels the influences of RadioheadMogwai and The Twilight Sad, and follows several sold-out hometown shows and their debut trip Stateside for New Colossus Festival earlier this year.

With widespread approval across the press landscape (Dork, Clash, Paste), notable supports alongside HappynessKagoule and Sløtface, and appearances at The Great EscapeY Not and Truck Festival already behind them, New Luna are primed to impress, with ‘Prunus’ laying down a real marker for what’s to come.

Discussing their upcoming release, frontman Tommy Deedigan explained: “I think sometimes people find it difficult to hear men being openly vulnerable, like it’s almost the opposite of what’s expected of them in lad culture or just in friendships and relationships at times. In some ways I just wanted to be openly vulnerable and make those people feel uncomfortable to challenge that stigma. There’s also this very real relationship between mental health and art that I guess this song addresses on a more personal level – about this fear that if you fix those issues, then maybe you wouldn’t be able to write anymore”.
