Norwegian newcomer SKIA releases bittersweet cut ‘Selfish’ – out now via Heist or Hit

Norwegian newcomer SKIA shares bittersweet new offering ‘Selfish’, and announces the arrival of forthcoming debut EP ‘Apricot’, out May 1st via Heist or Hit (Her’s, Pizzagirl, Nature TV).

Fast becoming a standout performer within Liverpool’s thriving underground scene, the alt-pop riser has sought to carve her own niche in her adopted hometown alongside label-mates Brad Stank and Pizzagirl, selling-out her debut live show in the city last month as she begins to build momentum on the live circuit.

Tackling themes of anxiety and relationships in her growing collection of fjord-beat bangers, the Scandipop innovator’s relatable songwriting and minimalistic approach has already attracted widespread praise from key industry gatekeepers (The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, Clash), with welcome comparisons to Robyn and Dagny ramping up expectations ahead of her upcoming EP release in May.

Discussing the origins behind the track, SKIA revealed: “‘Selfish’ is a bitter jam about feeling a little hard done by after a breakup, and calling someone out on their behaviour. I think breaking up is inevitably gonna feel icky no matter what side of it you’re on, but I don’t think there’s a better way of dealing with these feelings than compressing them into a song and making it danceable #bitternessbutmakeitchic”.
