PEAKES
Release AA-side Single ‘A Sacred Place’
September UK Tour Dates On Sale Now
Yorkshire’s much loved three-piece PEAKES recently marked their return with ‘On The Other Side,’ and today release another vivid, alt-pop hymn in the shape of their new single ‘A Sacred Place’ which is being released today via Practise Music (Squid, Woman’s Hour, Konradsen, Delmer Darion).
Although written last year, the songs lyrics take on a new meaning in the light of recent events; ‘A Sacred Place’ emplores the listener to find solace in their own thoughts – something we’re all going to have the time to do in coming weeks.
Singer Molly Puckering on the song: “It’s a homage to the human brain and the mind’s capabilities. A reminder to be content in your own head. We forget to take a step back and exist in our thoughts and this song is about the importance of contemplation”
The AA-side ‘A Sacred Place/On The Other Side’ was produced by Tim Bran and Roy Kerr (Aurora, Rae Morris, London Grammar) and demonstrates a powerful step forward in the group’s songwriting whilst still maintaining the understated elegance that makes them such an exciting proposition.
PEAKES make loneliness feel like the most seductive experience in the world. True outsiders, the Leeds based three-piece match their precocious musicality with ambient electronics and surging melodies, to create a divine sense of sound and space.
Vocalist Molly Puckering is a lone voice up front, her searingly personal vocals channel a rare degree of emotion amid beautifully balanced electronics from Maxwell Shirley and concise rhythms from Peter Redshaw.
