Pontiak bring their smouldering psych-blues riffing back to Europe this summer, plotting a run of dates for June 2020. The tour includes select shows with fellow cosmic explorers OM, as well as a number of festival sets.

Pontiak is the trio of brothers VanJennings and Lain Carney. Growing up and living on farms in rural Virginia, their lifelong closeness yields uncommon musical understanding, creative collaboration and personal camaraderie. Live, this closeness is palpable as the trio deftly improvise around each other, expanding of the acid-scorched structures of their recorded material. Snaking melodies and irresistible grooves erupt from the brother’s instruments, the Carneys’ crooning vocal harmonies providing an anchor amidst the trip.

Where Pontiak’s 2014 album Innocence tore through rowdy riffs and melancholic balladry in a neat half hour, the trio’s follow-up Dialectic of Ignorance is altogether a very different beast. Euphorically defying spatial constraint, the brothers instead opt to guide each song along its own cosmic trajectory: confident in the outcome, but even more excited to enjoy the ride.
