Shares New Single: ‘Rocket’

New Album: ‘Holiday’ – March 27, 2020

Hailing from Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, songwriter, Jennah Barry is today sharing her new single, ‘Rocket’, – listen here. The beguiling new single is the latest to be taken from the GoldFlakePaint and Line Of Best Fit-tipped album, Holiday which is due for release via Forward Music Group on March 27, 2020. Jennah’s previously announced May UK dates will now take place in October 2020, exact dates TBC (dates rescheduled due to COVID-19).

Featuring the production work of Barry’s musical and personal partner, Colin Nealis (prev. Andy Shauf, Aidan Knight), ‘Rocket’ is a slow-moving dance track, seamlessly tied together with Barry’s rosewater vocals and swooning guitar tones. Holiday as an album is wrapped in Barry’s pensive meditations and this track further explores those, this time with Jennah turning attention to “acting on impulse and saying things you can’t take back.”

The album has been in progress for a long while – its title, a tribute to Barry’s trademark wit, mocking her extended absence due to recovery. A testament to this, the album is largely informed by the mundanity of everyday life, a carousel of existence spiked occasionally with big events such as vocal surgery, or the birth of a child.

Barry is one of Atlantic Canada’s surest sirens. Her beguiling voice was first captured on her 2012 debut album, Young Men, a record that caught the attention of national Canadian press, as well as support from CBC radio. Vocal surgery halted Barry’s career between the years of 2015-2017 before a return in 2018 with the single, ‘Roller Disco’, her first release on Forward Music Group.
