CHARLI ADAMS releases captivating debut EP ‘Good At Being Young’ via Color Study

Seamlessly introducing herself across the alt-rock landscape with her blend of vivid storytelling, indie newcomer Charli Adams shares captivating debut EP ‘Good At Being Young’, out 31st January via Color Study (Haux, Henry Jamison, Rosie Carney).

Growing up in Alabama, Adams made the transition from cheerleader to passionate songwriter early on in high school. With few musicians, fewer concerts and family that belonged to a deeply conservative church, the alt-rocker resorted to playing secret shows in cafes and coffee shops. At age 16 she left high school and moved to Nashville where she immersed herself in the underground scene and began creating a wealth of material, with ‘Good At Being Young’ the first product of these sessions.

Spawning acclaimed lead singles ‘Backseat’, with its fiercely anthemic overtones, and bittersweet, reflective follow-up ‘Cloverland Drive’, the rising musician has certainly made quite the early impression, receiving heady comparisons to several of her contemporaries. Adams’ mature songwriting, focusing on the friendships and hardships of her formative years, has already attracted plaudits from key tastemakers including The FaderBillboardThe Line Of Best Fit and Earmilk.

Discussing the ideas behind the EP, Adams revealed: “‘Good At Being Young’ is about the nostalgia of youth and everything that comes with growing up. It’s a concept that has been written about over and over but I believe that’s because it’s one of the most universal emotions. It’s about retrieving the youthful energy we all used to have and reminding yourself to tap back into your inner child when things get too heavy; it’s about capturing that emotion before it’s forgotten”.

Mixed by Patrick Dillett (St Vincent, David Byrne, Yoko Ono) and mastered by Heba Kadry (Lucy Dacus, Cigarettes After Sex, Beach House), Charli Adams’ ‘Good At Being Young (EP)’ is out January 31st via Color Study and will be available on all digital platforms here.
