THE GURU GURU RELEASE NEW TRACK/VIDEO ‘ORIGAMIWISE’
TAKEN FROM THEIR SECOND STUDIO ALBUM ‘POINT FINGERS’
OUT JANUARY 31ST 2020 ON LUIK RECORDS/GRABUGE RECORDS

UK TOUR FEB 2020

Belgian 5 piece THE GURU GURU drop their quirky and menacing video for ‘Origamiwise’, taken from the band’s sophomore album ‘Point Fingers’, which will be released on Luik Records (BE) and Grabuge Records (FR) on January 31st 2020THE GURU GURU’S new album digs even deeper into turmoil than their last; An auditory aberration that spirals into madness.

Vocalist Tom Adriaenssens speak remarks about ‘Origamiwise’

“Origamiwise is a song about folding… You can get folded by life but you also have a choice at every turn: to call or to fold on it, as you would in a game of poker. It has a lot to do with my personal experiences in life. Loss, choices, loneliness and feeling excluded. The video was shot near to where I live. I walk my dogs in the woods every day. It’s where I think up many new lyrics. It’s a place for me to reflect on things. We thought the bathrobe would give it a more welcoming appearance…”

The forthcoming new album ‘POINT FINGERS’ was produced by Wouter Vlaeminck (Raketkanon, Kapitan Korsakov), mixed by David Bottrill (King Crimson, Tool, Coheed and Cambria) and mastered by Heba Kadry (Chelsea Wolfe, Deerhunter, Lightning Bolt).

THE GURU GURU has been happily dealing in borderline rock since 2012, combining feverishly angular guitars with off-kilter, poly-rhythms all complimented by erratic and unhinged vocals. While TGG’s influences are drawn from the likes of  METZ, Pere Ubu, Deerhoof, The Jesus Lizard, The Mars Volta & Andy Kaufman, the indie-math/psycho-noise rulebook is torn apart, resulting in chaotic songs that somehow seem to develop into wriggling earworms.

Praised for their live performances, THE GURU GURU is a must-see… With palpable, electric energy oozing from the stage, vocalist  Tom Adriaenssens balances on the verge of theatrical psychosis. TGG has made their mark playing across Europe sharing stages with the likes of Brutus, Raketkanon and Kapitan Korsakov as well as appearing at festivals such as ArcTanGent (UK), Portals (UK), Ment (SLO), Monkey Week (ESP), Rock Herk (BE), Sziget (HU) and Pukkelpop (BE).
