New CASPIAN-curated podcast ‘Talking In Circles’ debuted this week

CASPIAN, the Beverly, Mass.-based sextet who are on the brink of releasing their fifth album, On Circles (Jan. 24, Triple Crown Records), share new song “Circles on Circles”, a rare offering from the primarily instrumental outfit, with the four-minute-plus song featuring vocals from band co-founder and guitar player Philip Jamieson.

“I can’t say that taking pen to paper and opening up my voice for the first time in 15 years was the moment of total catharsis that I was looking for when writing this song during a bout of isolation and especially rough depression over the holidays of 2018,” explains Jamieson. “I did discover however that the decision to keep going anyways and move through the swirling circles of gray is more often than not a softer, more gentle and ultimately tender acknowledgment than I was always led to believe. What we did musically for this song is an ode to that realization and felt like the appropriate closing statement for a record that tried its hardest to cover a familiar spectrum of emotions, including endings, which can be gentle too.”

The track arrives as the band prepares to launch their first North American tour in three years, kicking off the first leg of their On Circles tour on Jan. 31 at Los Angeles’ Masonic Lodge (Hollywood Forever).

Album pre-orders, which include a highly limited 180 gram black vinyl variation as well as a green/blue vinyl offering, are available now via the Triple Crown Records’ webstore.

Digital pre-orders include instant downloads of “Circles on Circles” and “Flowers of Light” (the band recently unveiled a live performance of the song – HERE

On Circles was recorded at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, Pa. by producer Will Yip (Code Orange, Defeater, Quicksand, Turnstile), On Circles marks the most organic writing and recording sessions in CASPIAN’s 15-year history. Together for four weeklong songwriting sessions, the band opted for music gleaming with visceral impact instead of over-thought tangles, over-arching concepts and drawn-out crescendos.

CASPIAN US tour dates run from Jan 16th through to Feb 12th, then again from March 31st, then again from May 31st through to the end of June. On Jan 16th the band will host a very special show in Boston, an ‘On Circles Experience’ at the Museum of Science Charles Hayden Planetarium (no performance, visual experience). Tickets for all dates are available now, with a premium package, including a ticket, exclusive patch and signed poster is available via Caspian.band

CASPIAN have released four albums: The Four Trees (2007), Tertia (2009), Waking Season (2012) and Dust and Disquiet (2015). Since the Beverly, Mass.-based band’s inception, they’ve earned accolade upon accolade for their sweeping, cinematic music. 2015’s Dust and Disquiet was hailed by Noisey as “the life-affirming soundtrack you need in your life,” Brooklyn Vegan exclaimed “eardrums will be blown and jaws will be dropped” upon hearing the 10-song release,  while Spin described the sextet’s output as “epic, wordless orchestral swells on the lush, layered, and crushingly pretty.” Caspian is Philip Jamieson (guitar/keyboards), Erin Burke-Moran (guitar), Jonny Asburn (guitar), Jani Zubkovs (bass), Calvin Joss (guitar) and Justin Forrest (drums).
