TYCHO
– Shares new “The Making of Weather” minidocumentary
– “Weather World Tour” resumes in 2020
After releasing their GRAMMY® Award-nominated album, WEATHER earlier this year, Tycho are now sharing a behind the scenes glimpse into the creation of the record with a new mini-documentary “The Making of Weather“.
“The Making Of Weather“ chronicles Scott Hansen & Hannah Cottrell’s creative process on ‘Weather’, Hansen’s first vocal record. The documentary dives into key moments of the album’s creation as well as a breakdown of key tracks “Pink & Blue” and “Japan”. Hannah’s sophisticated and uninhibited songwriting is showcased throughout, as she explains her writing process.
Speaking about the record, Scott Hansen of Tycho said “It was the perfect time to try something new after the trilogy of ‘Dive’, ‘Awake’ and ‘Epoch’ because I put everything I had into that period of my life. Those albums in my mind were what I intended them to be. The next album had to be completely different and that was the vocals.”
Vocalist Hannah Cottrell, aka, Saint Sinner added “I had been desiring and asking for a mentor, someone to understand what I was dreaming of and that could advise me. I never imagined that this person would also be a collaborator of mine, which turned out to be gift.”
WEATHER, available now on Mom + Pop Music x Ninja Tune, was recently honored with a prestigious GRAMMY® Award nomination for “Best Dance/Electronic Album,” marking Tycho’s second consecutive nod in that category. The follow-up to 2016’s chart-topping, GRAMMY® Award-nominated EPOCH,WEATHER includes the acclaimed singles, “Easy,”“Japan,” and “Pink & Blue,” all available now for individual streaming and download. An array of official companion videos and lyric visualizers can be found now at the official Tycho YouTube channel.
Tycho is currently bringing WEATHER to the people with an extensive world tour set to travel the planet well into 2020. The “WEATHER World Tour” – officially got underway this fall with back-to-back dates at both The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and Berkeley, CA – sees Tycho incorporating live vocals for the first time ever, revealing a powerful new human energy to its already extraordinary live presentation. Longtime Tycho collaborators Zac Brown (bass and guitar), Rory O’Connor (drums), and Billy Kim (keyboards, guitar and bass) join Scott Hansen on all dates, with singer-songwriter Saint Sinner (a.k.a. Hannah Cottrell) traveling as the first-ever Tycho touring vocalist. Mild Minds will serve as special guest in North America while Poolside support on all European headline dates through March 2020. WEATHER– which features vocals throughout from Cottrell – made a top 3 debut on Billboard’s “Top Dance/Electronic Albums” chart upon its July release, its popular success equally matched by immediate international acclaim.
Tycho commemorated the release of WEATHER by unveiling an equally innovative web-based app. “Forecast” creates a unique, personalised experience which connects users to the themes, visuals, and sounds of WEATHER by generating original playlists coordinated with local weather forecasts. Users can then login to either Spotify or Apple Music where they can save and share the playlist to their account. Return visits to “Forecast” will continue to produce distinctive playlists for varying atmospheric phenomenon. Created exclusively for Tycho by groundbreaking designer/developer Lee Martin, “Forecast” is accessible now at weather.tychomusic.com.
