Rad Releases 19 – Tayne

December 27, 2019

It’s that time once again, as the countdown to the end of 2019 rapidly approaches and we somehow end this decade- we take a personal look back on familiar names, features and musicians’ best releases of the past 12 months. In what has been another crazy year filled with plenty of highs and lows- it’s the releases that have once again pulled a lot of people through the year.

Now in it’s 9th year, we let our favourites take over the site to tell us the records that have made their end of year lists. Telling us their most loved events/gigs and what we can look forward to from them next year.

Our next take-over comes from our most loved experimental artist. We speak to London based experimental pop/ noise rock outfit TAYNE to hear more about another great year. TAYNE’s music is an aural assault that welds moody, atmospheric vocals, punishing guitars, and overwhelming electronics, to pulsating rhythms; creating a unique listening experience. We handover to Matthew Sutton to discover more about TAYNE‘s 2019…

Top 5 release in no particular order.

Blanck Mass – Animated Violence Mild – Sacred Bones

I’ve been a massive Fuck Buttons freak for years, I genuinely feel Bens albums are getting better and better with each release.

Health – Vol 4 : Slaves Of Fear – Loma vista

Health are another band I’ve obsessed with for years, I honestly thought after the Death Magic Health wouldn’t ever be able to top that album. Slaves of fear is insanely catchy and intense. Big love.

Petbrick – I – Rocket recordings

I was waiting for this one for a while, caught a few of the early shows and loved the E.P they dropped, I knew the album was coming and it didn’t disappoint. It is the nosiest /brutal thing I’ve heard in a while.

Girl Band – The Talkies – rough trade

Girl band have always had a soft spot in my heart. They pretty much started a new sub culture genre of music that I’ve watched a billion bands trying to copycat over the last few years. I was so stoked to see them come back with such an epic album that put them back on top.

5th choice  is a tie between

Cult of Luna -A Dawn To FearAlessandro Cortini –  Volume Massimo

Best show we’ve played:

It’s gotta be the shows we done with HEALTH early this year on their album launch tour  in UK & Ireland.

It was a massive mile stone for the band and for me personally, I’ve been a big fan for a  long long time, so it was awesome to watch them play each night and hang out with them. Always meet your hero’s.

Best gig I’ve attended:

Probably Author & Punisher in London Via Chaos Theory or the Pet Brick Album Launch in the Shacklewell Arms in London.

Both 2 very visceral bands that are 100% worth the hype and a must see live, intense vibes for life yo!

Highlight of the year:

HEALTH & BLISS SIGNAL & TAYNE at Oval Space, London , March 28th 2019.

Artist to watch for 2020:

God Alone from Ireland are insane.

Ornith from Ireland.

The People Assembly ( previously FiveHead) from Leicester.

Best Discovery:

Slow Crush 110%

I love them, on holy roar of course, great label / great bands.

Next Year:

2020 will most likely see new releases and tours.

We’ve been hiding away a lot in 2019 recording a lot of new material with Wayne Adams of Big Lad & Pet Brick.

Thank you! What a great year, looking forward to this new material!
