One of the busiest times for the site and one of the times I love most, the final week and last few days of the year. I love handing over the site to some of the greatest musicians, labels, promoters and just great musical-minded individuals that’s we’ve had the pleasure in dealing/working alongside this year. But when the takeover falls back to the founder, myself, I always panic that I’m going to miss something spectacular from my own end of year list.
This year has been truly huge for all things Circuit Sweet as we celebrated a decade of CS! 10 years ago whilst managing Aulos, I set up a site, as back then there was so few music blogs around, and whilst touring religiously there seemed to be no details on most of the bands we were on the road with. So the site was set up to spread the word of those incredible bands.
Now 10 years later we are thrilled to have more acts under our management wing, to promote musicians worldwide, we’ve got a packed distro of releases on various formats. Over the moon to support new releases and see our logo on the back of some LPs, we’ve got the most amazing writers contributing daily- Gavin Brown, Simon Gore- I can’t thank you both enough. We interview our heroes and we love to capture artists in their live environment. So grateful for the musicians, the labels, the promoters and the readers.
This year really has been momentous with the 10 year anniversary, but other huge highlights for Circuit Sweet include our Cassette Store Day involvement, shooting some of our favourite musicians in venues or festival fields and a major highlight has been our involvement with the JR Ewing Documentary which was announced in the summer.
Our shop has welcomed a further 9 new releases to it’s shelves alongside our 10 year photostrip hand-numbered collection, more CS merch and some stunning cards from Simon Gore. Really looking forward to filling the shelves with more artists and releases in 2020.
This year has been phenomenal for new releases, and despite asking all these artists for their top 5 releases, I found that no matter what, I could not shrink my list- so below find my top releases of 2019.
