Rad Releases 19 – Jon Syverson of Daughters

December 24, 2019

It’s that time once again, as the countdown to the end of 2019 rapidly approaches and we somehow end this decade- we take a personal look back on familiar names, features and musicians’ best releases of the past 12 months. In what has been another crazy year filled with plenty of highs and lows- it’s the releases that have once again pulled a lot of people through the year.

Now in it’s 9th year, we let our favourites take over the site to tell us the records that have made their end of year lists. Telling us their most loved events/gigs and what we can look forward to from them next year.

Our next Rad Releases takeover comes from a legendary band who have had another huge year following their album release last year. Rewind 12 months prior and news was just breaking about Daughters planned return, their signing to Ipecac Recordings and their album You Won’t Get What You Want. Since the release back in October the band have been touring relentlessly. Having witnessed a few shows of their YWGWYW UK shows and their insane headline set at this year’s ArcTanGent closing their Yohkai stage for the first night. We are delighted to hand over to drummer Jon Syverson to find out more about his year in music….

The best show you have played

That’s impossible to answer, its been an honor to play and share our music with everyone whochose to attend a gig this year.

The best gig you have attended

Mondo Cane Sept 2nd – Milano, IT @ Teatro degli Arcimboldi

Its very rare to catch this band. The only reason I was lucky enough to see this show wasdue to the fact I was actually working with them this night. Amazing musicians playing together in a beautiful theatre in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.. good night!

Highlights of your year

The entire year was mostly music and travel, that in itself was a big highlight for me, I’ve been spoiled this year!

Artist/Band to watch for 2020

I don’t know how I’m supposed to answer this question. I’m not exactly in the know with anything these days. Anything I might know about I’m not actually supposed to speak about.. so don’t expect any spoilers here. Lets see..2020..  I’m personally excited for, or hoping to see the following:

Jerome’s Dream will be touring EU and hopefully releasing new music, I’m excited about the new Metz record which should happen sometime in 2020.Excited to check out the new And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead record which comes out in JAN. Hoping the Locust, City Hunter, and Hall & Oates will unleash new music into the world in 2020.

Plans for the New Year

Create, record, eat, perform, sleep, travel, work, sleep, repeat.

A huge thank you for your participation in our end of year special.. We cannot wait to catch more from you next year- thanks again!
