BEACH BUNNY ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM HONEYMOON
OUT 14TH FEBRUARY ON MOM+POP
NEW SINGLE “DREAM BOY” OUT NOW
LP FOLLOWS BREAKOUT SUCCESS OF 67 MILLION STREAMED SINGLE “PROM QUEEN”
Beach Bunny have announced their debut album Honeymoon, to be released on 14th February 2020. This marks the Chicago-based band’s first project to be released with Mom+Pop following four self-released EPs that culminated with 2018’s Prom Queen, the title track of which garnered over 67 million streams. The four-piece fronted by Lili Trifilio have also shared a new swooning and anthemic single “Dream Boy” and its video directed by Matt Gehl from Everybody’s Baby. The video evokes the spirit of a John Hughes’ film crossed with Bo Burnham’s Eighth Grade.
Trifilio says of the new song,
“”Dream Boy” was inspired by summer love – it is a song about being jaded to the idea of falling for someone again after being heartbroken in the past. It’s about giving into the butterflies in your stomach even when love seems so scary at times. In the context of Honeymoon, “Dream Boy” is an anthem of change in perspective, instead of viewing love as difficult the listener begins to open up to the possibility that just because the past was painful, doesn’t mean the future has to be. It reminds me of the color baby blue, poolside romance, and the optimism of summer’s beginning.”
Honeymoon is for anyone who has felt uncertain and doubtful about their future and had the courage to dive in and choose optimism and love. On it, Trifilio pinpoints emotions more clearly and honestly than most artists can with songwriting that is resonant and intimate within a muscular musical palate that perfectly encapsulates the energy of their raucous, life-affirming live shows. The albumis the stunning culmination of Trifilio’s evolution as a songwriter and artist.
Beach Bunny started in 2015 as a bedroom pop solo project before expanding to a full band in 2017 with Matt Henkels (guitar), Anthony Vaccaro (bass) and Jonathan Alvarado (drums) joining on. Honeymoon was recorded at the iconic Chicago studio Electrical Audio with producer Joe Reinhart (Hop Along, Modern Baseball, Joyce Manor).
