Avalanche Party have now released their eagerly anticipated and boundlessly impressive debut album ’24 Carat Diamond Trephine’.

The feral garage-punk quintet from the North Yorkshire Moors have spent the past weeks on tour in the US and UK, they gave free passes to shows for NHS staff and the album has been met with an overwhelmingly positive reception.

’24 Carat Diamond Trephine’ is an eleven track joyride that veers from the poetic and introspective to a ferocious barrage of explosive energy. Brimming with their infamous live urgency, it’s a masterfully curated LP that ranges from full-throttle sonic assault (‘7’, ‘HAHA’) to refrained moments of cool clarity to catch your breath (‘Hey Misdemeanour’, ‘Every Last Drop’). The legendary James Aparicio (Grinderman, Spiritualized) was the man tasked with taming the beast and it’s a production that does no such thing. Album opener ‘El Dorado’ is a melancholic murder ballad with its lonesome keys and baritone vocal delivery; the quiet before the storm. ‘Bugzy’ treads murkier, threatening waters with a blues informed rhythm and guitar tones seeped in darkness while elsewhere tracks like ‘Howl’ and ‘Playing Field Blues’ boast gloriously infectious, swaggering rock n’ roll built for aggressively prowling the stage. It’s an album barely contained, constantly teetering on the edge of insanity but is completely alluring throughout.

’24 Carat Diamond Trephine’ is undoubtedly a fist-raising crowd pleaser, but like contemporaries Fat White Family, Viagra Boys or The Blinders, they’ve used it as an opportunity to enforce their own birds-eye view of the world. They tackle hefty themes of anger and fear, the capitalist machine that drives us ever closer to the great flaming End, cloak-and-dagger corporate greed, the environment, lyrics of love, death and an individual’s walk through a world they were spat into, laughing as they go.

Artwork features close friend and The Amazing Snakeheads/And Yet It Moves frontman Dale Barclay, who tragically passed in 2018 but is remembered here for his huge impact on the band both personally and musically. The album was recorded over the course of a bitter December last year. Each day for a month (including Christmas Day) the band and an assortment of friends/collaborators crafted the tracks in a cold windowless room on the top floor above a social club in York called Young Thugs Studios.

Avalanche Party have had heavy radio support, being championed by BBC Introducing, Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Jack Saunders, 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson and many many more. The band have recorded live sessions for BBC 6Music, and were invited to London by KEXP to perform a live session as part of International Clash Day alongside the likes of Idles, Ghostpoet, Goat Girl and more. They were also hotly tipped by NME as future “ones to watch”.

The band have toured the UK & Europe constantly with numerous sell out shows, festival appearances and they’ve just returned from their first trip to the States, including performances at SXSW, New Colossus Festival in New York & headline shows in Los Angeles and Tijuana in Mexico. Notable UK performances include Reading & Leeds Festival, Isle of Wight Festival, The Great Escape, Liverpool Sound City, Tramlines Festival, Live at Leeds, Y-Not Festival, Humber Street Sesh, Truck Festival, 2000 Trees Festival, Deershed Festival, Twisterella Festival, Hit The North & Stockton Calling. European Festivals such as London Calling (Amsterdam), Psycho Mind Festival (Tilberg), Mikser Festival (Serbia) and Olgas Rock (Germany). This all alongside multiple European tours taking them to Belgium, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Serbia.

Avalanche Party have spent time honing their live craft into something truly unique and they’ve bottled that same magic for their astounding debut, and for them it’s just the beginning; “This is our debut album, we haven’t touched the surface before, and this is a glimpse into our bigger picture, our chaotic process, our commitment to us. There’s 5 people in this band with an equal passion, 5 different reasons to create, 5 different people with 200+ ideas each, that’s 1000+ ideas, 1000s of reasons we have to create. We had to make this now… mainly because we want to make a second one.”
