Signall Hill + Good Weather For An Airstrike Announce Release Of Limited Edition Split 7″

Available December 10th

Pre-order Now

The first new music in 3 years from Signal Hill and fresh off the heels of the 10th anniversary remaster of More After We’re Gone, this new limited edition 7” teams them up with UK’s Good Weather For An Airstrike with one new exclusive song from each artist.

Instrumental post rock group Signal Hill and Ambient/Post rock artist Good Weather For an Airstrike have teamed up for a split 7” on Illinois-based Sun Sea Sky Productions. Limited to 250 copies, this release includes a new exclusive song from each artist. The release is exclusive to bandcamp and streaming now. Both songs will be available on all major streaming platforms on the 10th of December when the physical record is released.

Signal Hill continues their intercontinental process of writing. For their side of the release, “Blessed Land”, was written and recorded separately in 3 cities across 2 countries. This release comes fresh off the remastered version of their debut album More after We’re Gone on its 10th anniversary, and the band’s first new music in 3 years since 2016’s Alturas. Reminiscent of the bands’ earlier guitar focused songs, this new music encompasses a variety of sonic ranges while keeping melodic sensibilities at the forefront.

Following up the band’s masterful Little Steps full-length LP and recent Zones EP, for their side of the release, Good Weather For An Airstrike provides a slight departure from their subtle ambient sounds and create a swirling and swelling epic post rock tune. Mastered by Taylor Deupree @ 12k Mastering

With the release starting with the integral and intricate sounds from Good Weather For An Airstrike, “Moura” is truly momentous and memorable. The band have created a complex and interweaving composition which although still feels and sounds like GWFAA there’s a ferocity to the single which is like nothing they’ve created before.

Signal Hill’s track fits and flows effortlessly from the artist before.

With “Blessed Land” Signal Hill return to their true form. Time and space may feel like added pressure to each member of Signal Hill, but for the listener, the end projection feels tight, emotional and buoyant. Signal Hill grow stronger as a united outfit and “Blessed Land” is a remarkable release highlighting their talent. Shimmering tones, structured notes and impeccable build up. “Blessed Land” is a progressive and powerful post rock journey- atmospherically intense as the orchestration captivates you. A beautifully meditative sound created before building up to the enveloping and all-encompassing finale.

A courageous release from both acts and one that consume you. Creative and compelling, be sure to own this special split!

About Signal Hill

Signal Hill’s 15 year friendship of music making started in Los Angeles and took some members to NY and now London, with the band calling all three cities home. Their instrumental arrangement’s wide influences allow them to encompass moods from somber yearning and wistful dreams to driving ambition and uplifting triumph. With their rhythm section having both jazz and punk roots, Signal Hill is rounded out with influences from mid/late 90s emo and classic rock, alike Their daring to explore sonic spaces and eliciting strong emotions from listeners have led to regular plays on NPR as segment bridges, the use in marketing for major studio motion pictures, a publisher’s use in novel trailers, and has even served as a sample to 2013’s hit “dance the pain away” by Benny Benassi & John Legend.

About Good Weather For An Airstrike

The Good Weather For An Airstrike project was initially conceived at the beginning of 2009 to help Winchester, UK based Tom Honey alleviate the issues caused by suffering from tinnitus, which causes a ringing sensation in the ear and can often result in difficulty sleeping. The idea was to create a collection of relaxing sounds which would help induce sleep.  His work draws on all of his musical influences and presents itself as a rich tapestry of lulling drones that hints at a diluted form of post rock.

Pre-order the split via Sun Sea Sky Productions now ahead of the official December 16th release.
