DETAILS DEBUT LP – ‘KARAOKE ANGEL’ SEPT 20 VIA PARTISAN – SHARES NEW SONG + VIDEO “SUDDENLY”

TOURING THIS SUMMER/AUTUMN
– END OF THE ROAD FEST + MORE

Molly Sarlé has detailed her forthcoming debut LP ‘Karaoke Angel’ – out Sept 20th via Partisan Records.

Listen to alluring and evocative album highlight “Suddenly” now, accompanied by a music video (dir. by DL Anderson)

Sarlé (1/3rd of the group Mountain Man) wrote and recorded ‘Karaoke Angel’ over a three year period – living in a cliffside trailer in Big Sur, spending time in a monastery, returning home to Durham (NC), finally settling into a church-turned-recording studio in Woodstock (NY). With production by Sam Evian, she combines those two worlds – West Coast incantations with a warm Appalachian glow – to make an album of open-hearted, unflinching songwriting equally appropriate for late-night karaoke comedowns, plaintive morning walks, and conjuring the spirit world.

About “Suddenly,” Sarlé explains: “Suddenly is a song about realizing you’ve been performing sex for someone else rather than experiencing it yourself.”

Throughout ‘Karaoke Angel’ there are unflinching, open-hearted moments – Sarlé sings about being in a relationship with someone struggling with addiction (“This Close”), and a real conversation she had with her father about him considering suicide (“Almost Free”). But there’s also humor throughout like getting stoned and channeling the spirit world (“Faith For Doubt”), or making post-coital grilled cheese (“Suddenly”). Read more about the making of ‘Karaoke Angel’ in this new bio, written by Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak.

Sarlé has previously shared two additional tracks from ‘Karaoke Angel’ – “Human” and “This Close” – which have already earned raves from Gorilla vs Bear (“absolutely gorgeous/timeless”), NPR Music, Wild Honey Pie + more. She was also recently profiled by Vanity Fair.
In addition to a performance at the End of the Road Festival at the end of August, Sarlé will tour extensively behind ‘Karaoke Angel’. Full routing below, stay tuned for additional dates.
