GOON
SHARE NEW TRACK “BLACK FINCH”
DEBUT LP: ‘HEAVEN IS HUMMING’
OUT NEXT WEEK – 19 JULY, VIA PARTISAN
Ahead of the release of their debut LP ‘Heaven Is Humming’ – out July 19 via Partisan – LA based 4-piece GOON have shared a new track. “Black Finch” takes Pixies-indebted loud/soft juxtaposition and gives it a freak-folk twist.
Guitarist/singer Kenny Becker says of the song: “I came up with “Black Finch” after being inspired by the feeling of being happily stoned at dusk, walking around outside looking at the birds on the telephone wires, with, for those 3ish hours, not a care in the world.”
Last month Goon shared another ‘Heaven Is Humming’ highlight – “Check Engine Light” – paired with a feature via Consequence of Sound.
Since forming in 2016, Goon have built a cult following in LA, landing a spot on Fader Fort and NPR’s Artists To Watch list at SXSW last year. They’ve earned spotlights from Rolling Stone, Noisey, Spin, Fader + more, and have opened for Shame, Lucy Dacus, Grandaddy, + more. The band’s first two EPs – ‘Dusk of Punk’ and ‘Happy Omen’ – initially released independently and re-issued by Partisan last year – are also available now.
