Orla Gartland Releases Poignant New Video for Inevitable,Taken from Why Am I Like This? EP (Out Now)

Following the release of her new Why Am I Like This? EP two weeks ago, Orla Gartland has further treated fans to the poignant and delicately heart-wrenching video for Inevitable. Directed by Guy Larsen, the video is available to watch and share now via YouTube

The Why Am I Like This? EP, from which the track Inevitable is taken, is a collection of inward-facing songs written over the four years Dublin-born Gartland has resided in London. As she explains: “Each of these songs explores something I’ve learnt about myself in my late teens through to my early twenties – these super turbulent, super formative years.”
Inevitable, as befitting of the video, is a break-up ballad of sorts.

In Gartland’s ‘confessionary pop’ style that has raised comparisons to Stevie Nicks, the song explores the slow and sad decay of a relationship from the inside out.

Why Am I Like This? EP also includes the previous singles Why Am I Like This?  (February 2019), a slab of existential pop laying-bare internal feelings of  social anxiety, and Flatline (April 2019), a song about the misery of one-sided friendships wrapped in Gartland’s bright ‘indie-pop’ sound which has had comparisons to artists such as St. Vincent and Regina Spektor. Gartland has received support from key tastemakers such as The Line of Best Fit, Pop Justice and 405, among many others.

To date her music has been streamed over 8 million times on Spotify alone, with over 200k YouTube subscribers and thousands of loyal online supporters.

This year alone, Gartland has toured Europe extensively with Dodie including a date at Roundhouse, London; played a sold-out headline UK/Ireland tour which included two Omeara, London dates, and recently performed Live at Leeds festival. Now Orla Gartland has announced a headline European tour including a date at her homeland of Dublin, Ireland and a headline show at The Scala, London.
