MAIRU release debut EP ‘The Sacred Dissonance’

Liverpool based instrumental post-metal, doom rock quartet Mairu have just released one of the most powerful debut EPs of all time.

‘The Sacred Dissonance‘ released April 26th 2019 was produced, mixed and mastered by Tom Dring (Venom Prison, Dawn Ray’d, Dragged Into Sunlight) at Vagrant Recordings, Southport, UK.  The band consist of Alan Caulton – Guitars, Ben Davis – Drums, Dan Hunt – Bass and
Ant Hurlock – Guitars.

Formed in the North West of England in April 2018, the band blend introspective ethereal atmospherics with anthemic grooves, exploding crescendos and crushing doom. They play what they consider instrumental post-metal, primarily influenced by such bands Neurosis, Cult of Luna, Pelican, Mastodon and Deftones.

MAIRU are a band filled with insanely talented musicians and together the four boldly push their deliverance into new realms, as they blur the lines between post-metal, post-rock, doom and progressive rock. MAIRU are a must hear outfit.

‘The Sacred Dissonance’ consists of 4 tracks which will shake you to the core. The EP kicks off with “A Fire Within The Slendour”, a slow building, dark and indulging track absorbing the listener into their full-bodied emancipation. With Russian Circles-esque filthy bass line paving the way into a record projecting itself on a serious ferocious scale.

Melodic and monumental, each composition has some truly moving moments with meticulous craftsmanship. Each track more iconic than the last. The four create soaring levels with ample power throughout each orchestration. The EP lacks nothing as the four build sonically destructive layers and textures, their tracks are totally crushing through their intense wall of sound with big riffs and bigger beats.

‘The Sacred Dissonance’ is bold, abrasive and incredibly encapsulating. Hands down one of the most hard-hitting, flawless debut records to have come along for a while.

It won’t be long before we see this act sharing stages with their inspirations whilst their own heroes are in awe.
