Continuing their extensive worldwide touring around the release of latest album I Have Fought Against It But I Can’t Any Longer, The Body have added more shows to their EU run this summer, including a string of dates with chameleonic producer Black To Comm. Black To Comm was personally selected by The Body to join them on the dates, as an artist who shares their deeply eclectic taste in experimental sounds and genre-less approach to music making.
Absolutely no one makes music like The Body. With each release, the duo of Lee Buford and Chip King continue to defy the constraints of what it means to be a “heavy” band, seamlessly combining composition or production approaches from hip hop, pop, classical, as well as rock and electronica resulting in a rich and utterly singular sound. Equally at home on festival stages, art spaces, or in DIY basements, they transcend musical boundaries. Their ambitious creativity shapes their bleak worldview into propulsive, affecting, and even danceable music, often drenched in distortion.
Black To Comm is the solo project of German producer and sound artist Marc Richter. Operating at the fringes of drone and ambient genres, his music is darkly magical and deeply atmospheric, underpinned by a signature surrealism. A relentless sonic explorer, Richter approaches the studio as his instrument, using sampling, analogue production and digital manipulation to sculpt disparate fragments of sound into pieces that transcend time or genre. Seven Horses For Seven Kings, his latest full-length released earlier this year holds a mirror up to the violence and unreality of modern life. It is an unashamedly dark, undeniably angry record. But rather than be consumed by such emotions, Richter employs them as ecstatic release.
