“Antique Lands: OER Live at ArcTanGent”, the new EP from Only Echoes Remain, releases 24TH MAY 2019
Pre-release show at The Victoria, Dalston, London on Monday 20th May
w/ This Patch of Sky.
Only Echoes Remain have announced a forthcoming new live EP release, a set taken from their triumphant live performance gracing the stage at 2018’s ArcTanGent.
Antique Lands is a brand new recording and master of OER’s set at last year’s ArcTanGent festival, featuring new songs from their upcoming sophomore album, due next year, alongside a powerful live performance of Exigent fan-favourite Aurora.
The forthcoming EP features their 5 track set in all it’s glory. With the keys luring you into this ominous presence from the first note of their intro, you’re effortlessly taken back to that weekend last summer at Fernhill farm. OER created their own unique atmosphere in a full-on weekend in a field with friends and music lovers. From their intro the band set their sights on their flawless delivery of Aurora, the standout single taken from their 2017 debut. If the intro wasn’t enough to get the crowd intrigued to their sounds, Aurora certainly cemented their crowds appreciation bringing in fans old and new. OER deliver a cutting edge blend of post-rock, big riffs, melody and emotions. Monolith follows the recognizable favourite; the more upbeat scale and infatuating loop being played gathers severe momentum and showcases the ferocity this quartet can convey. At times just crushing, progressive and harmonic. The live EP projects the dynamic force OER possess, with the live performance of I Am Ozymandias the band once again alters the mood with their soaring soundscapes. Finally, their 9-minute orchestration Eclipse steals the show and the record. Rhythmic, experimental and flowing, the journey this composition takes you on, frantically pushing the boundaries in terms of musical scope.
The EP in its entirety highlights Only Echoes Remain‘s ambitious path, and the result found within Antique Lands is an expansive and courageous body of work. If you missed their set at Arc or have yet to see what the fuss about, the EP is the perfect reason why you must catch this quartet live. With the record containing songs set to be featured on their 2020 sophomore album- we can’t wait to indulge in their powerful, highly anticipated follow up.
OER‘s now-signature musical unpredictability is out here in full force, with the unexpected twists and turns within each song being expertly brought to life by the lively and engaging mix and master, courtesy of Peter Junge at Castle Studios, Röhrsdorf, Germany.
The EP is set for release Friday 24th May, however you can hear them play the new songs and pick up an early copy of the EP exclusively at their London launch show on the 20th May with This Patch of Sky and The Chasing Monster.
