Shamir announced the launch of Accidental Popstar Records late last year and is one of its first signees Grant Pavol released debut single ‘Vintage Cloths’.
In the spring of 2017 Shamir surprise released an album titled ‘Hope’ on his personal Soundcloud, the description from the release was a personal note from the artist himself, starting the note off saying “ I was gonna quit music this weekend. From day 1 it was clear I was an accidental pop star.”. After the release Shamir released three other e.p.’s on his Soundcloud by 3 other artist and called it a “ Fake Soundcloud Label”. After the release of his third album on Father/Daughter Records “Revelations”, Shamir continued to tour and write but took a lengthy hiatus to focus on working with artist in the Philadelphia community where he resides.
Newly signed Grant Pavol is a prolific 19 year old singer-songwriter and Philadelphia native. Coming from an artistic family, Grant was constantly surrounded by music and taught himself guitar during his early teen years. Cutting his teeth in the Philly music scene around the age of 15, he attended DIY shows around the city, one of his first being a basement show which happened to be Shamir’s first show in Philadelphia. Soon after, Shamir moved there permenantly and the two began to develop a friendship. Equal parts Elliott Smith and Nick Drake, Grant’s hushed vocals and lyrical melodies carry the sincerity of his sound.
After sending Shamir demos via Facebook in the summer of 2018, the duo quickly tracked all five songs for Pavol’s debut EP in Shamir’s living room. Grant’s debut EP ‘Okay’ Will be out 17th May.
