EP ‘The Cosmics’ due out June 13th
Birmingham upcomers The Cosmics are pleased to announce the release of their debut vinyl EP, out June 13th. They welcome you into their world of distorted yet infectious melodies, glazed with a punk aesthetic.
The garage-rock trio have been making waves across their local music scene and count Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens as fans. They’ve played on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury, Isle of Wight Festival, Reading Festival, other major UK festivals & have also played shows alongside the likes of Starcrawler, Surfbort, The Murder Capital & Goat Girl. They’ve also released exclusive 7’s with Flying Vinyl.
Lead single ‘Eyes’, taken from the self-titled record, will be released on April 19th and perfectly encapsulates the kind of 60’s beat that The Cosmics perform with such perfect refrain before collapsing almost entirely into a much more modern take on the garage-fuzz sound. Addictively catchy, the band walk the line between surf and noise effortlessly while showcasing a raw talent for songwriting.
It was recorded by Test Icicles’ Rory Attwell whose production credits include the likes of Palma Violets, The Vaccines, Yuck, Mazes and Male Bonding among many other up-and-coming bands.
Live, The Cosmics impress with stagecraft beyond their years and gigs across the country are leaving spectators speechless. The EP collects six of their live favourites, each track leaving its own unique mark, but as a full body of work it highlights a band with a fierce energy captured impeccably to a record you’ll want to put back on the moment it ends.
