Release new single Hole In The Floor

Announce forthcoming EP Absent In Person due 26 April

Leeds based alt-pop trio PEAKES return with another stunning reflection on isolation and loneliness in the form of their new single Hole In The Floor which was recorded in London with Steph Marziano and demonstrates a powerful step forward in the groups songwriting whilst still maintaining the understated elegance that makes them such an exciting proposition.

Singer Molly Puckering’s vocal adds the human touch to proceedings above the airy electronics and taught groove as she sings anguished lyrics like “I walk the streets with no gravity, Everyone is out of reach”. Where 2018’s previous single Still Life found beauty in negative space, on Hole In The Floor PEAKES broadcast a widescreen, technicolour vision but find themselves looking even further within. This duality indicates the complexity which PEAKES are set to explore on their forthcoming EP Absent In Person which is being released 26 April via Practise Music (Squid, Woman’s Hour, Konradsen, Osquello).

PEAKES make loneliness feel like the most seductive experience in the world. True outsiders, the Leeds based three-piece construct vivid alt-pop hymns, while their precocious musicality matches ambient electronics to surging melodics, and a divine sense of sound.Vocalist Molly Puckering is a postwoman by day, making her solitary rounds in a city that was never intended to be home. She’s that lone voice up front, her searingly personal vocals channelling a rare degree of emotion amid beautifully balanced electronics from Maxwell Shirley and concise rhythms from Peter Redshaw.
