FAKE LAUGH

Announces UK tour dates

Shares “Surrounded”

New AA-single 7″, “Honesty” / “Surrounded”
due 15th March on Headcount Records

“Everything Fake Laugh man Kamran Khan touches comes sprinkled with magic dust…wide-eyed, perfect pop.” – DIY

“Sometimes, an artist encapsulates the feeling of a carefree sunny day so well in their music, it’s hard not to feel buoyant when you’re listening to them” – Crack Magazine

“‘Better For Me’ is a hazy, evocative slice of left field indie songwriting that speaks eloquently about the everyday dislocation presented by technology overload. ” – Clash

Hot on the heels of his eponymous debut LP and follow-up single, Fake Laugh aka Kamran Khan is primed to drop yet two more bangers for the kids, in the form of a new double A-Side. The driving, dream-pop bop that is ‘Honesty’ features guest vocals from Poppy Hankinof previous tour-mates Girl Ray, whilst the skittish, social commentary of ‘Surrounded’ hurtles along, set against a backdrop of razor-sharp melodies and instant-hit hooks. The singles will be released physically on limited 7″ on 15th March. Preorder here.

Following on from “Honesty” last month, today he airs “Surrounded” along with accompanying video, shot on tour.

Kam says of it, “My girlfriend Klara leant me a small video recorder at the beginning of last summer, so I was collecting footage for about 3 months. It was quite a lovely time, which featured a fair amount of ping-ponging between Berlin and London, playing a few shows with various friends from both places and doing some recording.

I was going to get a friend to edit it, but just ended up doing it myself on iMovie, which was quite fun if a bit strange. It’s a bit of a funny task putting together all this footage of yourself, although I suppose people are fairly used to that sort of self-editing process these days. I tried to make it a bit abstract too though, it was fun to sync the images with the rhythms and arrangement of the song.”

Fake Laugh will also be touring the UK in March and April, first as support to The Japanese House, followed by headline shows. Dates are as follows:

11th March – Brighton – Concorde 2*
12th March – Oxford – O2 Academy 2*

Having recently relocated from Berlin to London and in the midst of touring duty for The Japanese House, Kam has continued writing and performing under the Fake Laugh alias which he humbly began in 2013, inspired by left-field pop artists such as Broadcast, Weezer, Chris Cohen and XTC. His most recent release ‘Better for Me’ has gained over 4 million plays on YouTube whilst its sister track ‘On Loop’ enjoyed radio support from Lauren Laverne and Steve Lamacq

For the naturally gifted songwriter and musician, who plays all instruments on his recordings, the plan from here is simple: more singles in the form of 7” vinyl until it’s time to reveal the big one… the second Fake Laugh album. So strap yourself in and enjoy the vibes.
