GLASS PEAKS
REVEAL STEPHEN KING INSPIRED TRACK:
“MISERY
Glass Peaks are pleased to unveil a thrilling new single: “Misery”, a track that emerges as the debut release of a brand new label: CLOSE-UP.
Nodding to the Stephen King novel of
Written after watching the silver-screen adaptation of Stephen King’s “Misery” on a grey, dismal Saturday morning worthy of the film’s title, the band found themselves inexplicably driven to create a work of paranoia-preened pop culture of their own. Homing-in on the themes of obsession and deceit that marble through King’s horror masterpiece, Glass Peaks began to weave the evocative lyricism of singer-songwriter Alfie Jeffries around the band’s claustrophobic and pummelling post-rock sound. Building to an exhilarating climax, “Misery” is an intense, adrenaline-rushing original composition with a restless spirit akin to that which inspired it.
The track will be available as the first release of a brand-new record label: CLOSEUP. A meeting of minds between celebrated LDN live tastemakers CLOSEUP (who coincidentally put on Glass Peaks’ very first show and have been committed to nurturing the band’s development ever since) and the established Modern Sky UK label (The Blinders / Catholic Action), this exciting new label aims to put aesthetics, discovery

Speaking about the inspiration for ‘Misery’, frontman Alfie Jefferies says:
“Whilst “Misery” is influenced by the intensity and horror of the Stephen King movie itself, it’s not a direct homage. “Misery” serves as a representation of our obsessive natures, no matter how big or small. The words paint a picture of what it is really like to crave and desire something. “Misery” is a gentle tilt of the hat to our feverishly addictive personalities in the modern age.”
Glass Peaks will be touring “Misery” with a select few dates across the UK this Spring in support of London six-piece Bedroom / Boredom. With multiple sold out shows across London and the South East already to their names, not to mention numerous mettle-proving support slots for the likes of White Lies, The Amazons
