Macseal Announces New EP Map It Out
Out November 9th via 6131 Records
Premieres “Sure Thing, Shelly” via The Alternative
Long Island, NY’s Macseal have just announced Map It Out, a new EP coming out November 9th via 6131 Records. The band is streaming the first song from the album “Sure Thing, Shelly” now via The Alternative. The Alternative calls the song, “an unrelenting earworm,” and “pop-punk catharsis from one of the more gripping young bands in the DIY scene.” Pre-orders for Map It Out are available now via 6131 Records.
Hailing from Long Island, NY, the quintet draw from a wide range of influences, spanning from youthful favorites like Motion City Soundtrack and Paramore, to more indie trendsetters such as Someone Still Loves you Boris Yeltsin and Soccer Mommy, all the while maintaining a bold sound uniquely their own. Having released two well-received EPs, Macseal earned slots supporting Tigers Jaw, Iron Chic, Transit, Tiny Moving Parts, Microwave, Brendan Lukens (of Modern Baseball), and Slaughter Beach Dog, not to mention having grown a strong live following of their own.
In June 2018, Macseal visited Magpie Cage in Baltimore, MD to work with legendary engineer J. Robbins (The Promise Ring, Jets To Brazil, The Dismemberment Plan, Lemuria) to record new material for their first release on new label 6131 Records (Julien Baker, Culture Abuse, Joyce Manor). The four songs born from this session embody the band’s move towards a more indie vibe, while not entirely dismissing their DIY roots. The resulting EP, entitled Map It Out, will be released on November 9th, 2018.
