Axel Flóvent learns how to take things ‘Slow & Steady’ on new single – taken from highly anticipated forthcoming EP ‘Youthful Hearts’

‘Youthful Hearts’ EP out 26th October

Slow & Steady is the healing process on the journey of fear and anxiety. Finding patience and comfort in awareness and clarity. Finding answers within the broken walls. Puzzling the pieces and gluing them back together.” Axel Flóvent is wise beyond his young years, and sings with a sincerity and emotional wisdom rarely matched by a musician his age. He premieres his new single Slow & Steady today via The Wild Honey Pie, another cut from his highly anticipated forthcoming EP Youthful Hearts.

“These days it’s very easy to be impatient, I guess most of us are” Axel continues. “Because everything is growing so fast and we wanna be a part of the wave. We want everything now, as the vice man said. I guess we’re all aware of it as well, and we’re at a time where people know that their everyday anxiety comes from habits learned from being victims of the ‘everything now’ wave. Which makes us act in fear and sometimes shut down possibilities.”

Growing up in such a close-knit community, the artist never imagined his music would reach such far-flung corners of the world, despite having seen his cousin Ásgeir become the biggest selling artist in Iceland. The musician has now returned with a brand-new EP; Youthful Hearts. Produced alongside Odd Martin (Sigrid, Aurora), the EP possesses an incredibly plaintive message set within a framework of jubilant pop-flecked indie and intimate acoustic ballads, representing yet another stride forward in the exciting musician’s budding musical career. Flóvent draws on his own vulnerability in a relationship, the exhilaration of first loves as well as the isolation felt upon losing it.

The young artist has only been living away from his home for a short amount of time – tiny, remote Icelandic fishing village, Husavik (population 2000) – rising to acclaim in 2016 following the release of the impressive Forest Fires EP, closely followed by 2017’s Quiet Eyes EP (the pair amassed 40m+ streams across streaming platforms).
Having spent the past 18 months residing in the Netherlands, the now Brighton based singer-songwriter has cultivated a sound reminiscent of The Cure and The 1975 – a collection of songs steeped in luscious, sunny guitars and Axel’s signature melodic vocal hooks.
The young artist heads out on tour throughout Europe this winter, with UK shows in Brighton and London as well as an appearance at Reykjavik’s Iceland Airwaves Festival.
