MANTRA Release Video For RUN AWAY | Debut Album DREAMLAND Due 15th February On Dine Alone Records
Mantra have revealed the official video for latest single Run Away, which captures their turbulent and colossal sound. Abrasive, oscillating and anthemic, the track is produced by Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood, Ghost, Pixies) and showcases a new strength to Mantra’s sound.
Vocalist Simon Stark explains “We filmed the video for Run Away at two in the morning in a field in Milton Keynes. It was at the end of a four day shoot filming three music videos in one go!
The track has an undercurrent of low grade malaise running through the lyrics, mirroring the tension in the verse, and thematically explores self-esteem growing up during the austerity years. It’s is another track that Tom Dalgety really helped to shape, he had great ideas on how to get the chorus to stand out. When I was writing it, I wanted to play with the dynamics in the verse using stabs of distortion within the tension of that Jaws style riff, so the listener is kept on their toes”.
Run Away follows previous single Individual, which premiered via Upset Magazine and saw support from Amazing Radio. Both tracks feature on Mantra’s forthcoming debut album Dreamland due 15th February on Dine Alone Records (Alexisonfire, City and Colour, The Dirty Nil).
Since their formation in 2016, West London’s Mantra have mesmerised listeners with spellbinding melodies propelled by powerhouse riffs and thundering drums. Signing to Dine Alone Records for their I Want EP in 2017, Mantra’s infectious alt-rock has earned support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing, and Amazing Radio. Alongside performing with Jane’s Addiction, Radkey, and Snow Patrol guitarist Nathan Connolly’s band Little Matador, they have traveled to festivals such as SXSW, Reading and Leeds, and 2000Trees.
Fresh from supporting Arcane Roots, Mantra’s next port of call will be supporting Sick Joy in October. Further live dates will be announced soon.
Now armed with a brilliantly ambitious debut album, Mantra are set to scale new heights. Watch this space for further news.
