Lemuria Announce Fall US Headlining Tour, “Recreational Hate” Out Now

Just as they’re winding down their current tour, Lemuria are excited to announce the fall leg of their Recreational Hate album tour, with support from Bethlehem Steel (all tour dates below). The tour announcement follows the February 2018 release of their latest album Recreational Hate, and the July 2018 release of their Companion LP,  meant to illuminate Recreational Hate. The indie rock trio is currently on tour in support of the releases with openers Katie Ellen and Dusk. Tickets for all upcoming tour dates are on sale now.The indie rock trio have been together for nearly fifteen years, guided by their fierce DIY ethics which have garnered them a devoted fanbase across the country. Originally formed in Buffalo, NY by singer/guitarist Sheena Ozzella and singer/drummer Alex Kerns, Lemuria have released a slew of albums, EPs and 7″s over the years to critical acclaim from NPR, Pitchfork, Stereogum, She Shreds, BrooklynVegan and many other places. Rounded out by bassist Max Gregor, as Lemuria have grown, life has spread the band across the country, with members in DC, Las Vegas and Austin – but they’ve never lost their connection to each other or to the music they make together.

Both Recreational Hate and the first 7 songs on Companion were recorded with Chris Shaw (Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Public Enemy, Weezer, Ice Cube), while the last 6 tracks on Companion are lo-fi demos meant to give insight to listeners into Lemuria’s writing process.

Biography:Lemuria is an American Indie Rock band. They formed in 2004 in Buffalo, New York, in the landing of an apartment stairway above Amy’s Place, the greatest diner in the world. 14 years of touring, 4 albums, and dozens of 7″s later, the band is much different than it was when it began; Lemuria changes with the varying and dynamic interests of its constituents, and avoids being pigeon-holed at all costs. Recreational Hate is, along this avenue, something different. The songs can be traced to a past, present, and future existence of the band, running in every direction, but always coming home to a definitive observational point of reference. Recreational Hate is the next book in a fantasy series for the escapist who is attracted to themes of exploring their own identity.  It’s the surprise fourth act in a never ending performance. It hints of familiarity in a place where the guidelines have been abandoned, and anything is possible.  A companion release, cheekily titled Companion is due to accompany the album in June of 2018.
