UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA’S SEX & FOOD IS OUT TODAY, 6th APRIL 2018

Today, Unknown Mortal Orchestra release their fourth album, Sex & Food, viaJagjaguwar. A delightfully shapeshifting album, Sex & Food filters real-deal serious themes such as “What are we consuming? How is it affecting us, and why does everything feel so bad and weird sometimes?” through a vibrant sonic lens that spans battered drum-machine funk, doomy and thrashing rock, and pink-hued psychedelic disco. Recorded in a variety of locales from Seoul and Hanoi to Reykjavik, Mexico City, and Auckland, Sex & Food is a practical musical travelogue, traversing the world as well as a wide spectrum of human experience as we grapple with new realities. The album earned 9/10 in Uncut who called it “impressive”. MOJO’s 4* review described it as “frequently tremendous”, The Guardian’s 4* review said it was “terrific stuff” and Q, “beguiling”.
Today, the band shares a video for the dancefloor-ready “Everyone Acts Crazy Nowadays,” illustrated and animated by the artist Greg Sharp. Watch it below.
Finally, join UMO’s Ruban Nielson at the /r/indieheads subreddit for an AMA at 10PM UK time / 2PM PST this evening, where he will answer all your questions about life, sex, food, social media addiction, and whatever else fans choose to ask (and he decides to answer).
Unknown Mortal Orchestra will play live across the UK next month with shows at The Roundhouse in London on May 24th (sold out) and dates in Bristol, Manchester and Leeds. They return to the UK to headline London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall on 21st November 2018. Full live dates are listed below with UK shows in bold.
