Following the news of their forthcoming album Negative Work, due out May 25, Boston Trio E (Thalia Zedek, Gavin McCarthy, Jason Sidney Sanford)have announced an extensive run of European dates this summer. The tour includes shows with Superchunk and Beatriz Ferrerya, with more to be announced soon.
Despite all being accomplished and celebrated musicians in their own right – with roots in bands including Karate, Come, Live Skull and Neptune, there are no clashing egos here. A dedication to ensemble playing and writing is what shapes E’s distinct sound, their angular, energized, and idiosyncratic rock music the product of three individuals whose dedication to the collaborative process may very well be the source of compelling tension underlying their songs.
E has been touring and writing together steadily since their debut, at an age when many musicians are loath to abandon what they are known for and jump back into the grind of establishing a new band. E’s egoless dedication, love of playing, and relentless inventiveness are irresistible qualities making their live shows utterly compelling.
