PARK FIRES / THE BOXING – SPLIT SINGLE

04/05/18 – CPWM 7” Singles Club

Leeds’ CPWM 7” Singles Club have announced the next single in their acclaimed run of split 7” releases. Following on from the first CPWM release of 2018 featuring Mansion of Snakes and Brooders, this new release will feature electronic-duo Park Fires and gloomy, psychy post-punk trio The Boxing.

First up on the CPWM single is Park Fires, the work of Emma Duffy and Rachel Lissenburg who together create richly layered, 80’s inspired electronic pop. This new single won’t be their first collaboration with Come Play With Me, in 2017 the band launched Her Music PR, a female focussed music PR company based in Leeds with a Women in Music event run in conjunction with CPWM.

Talking about their new single ‘Wake Me Up’ the bands Emma Duffy said: “Wake me up reflects the mental battle with oneself, you long to be with that unrequited love and  having that harsh realisation that the relationship will always be one sided. The worst part is that your mind keeps telling you to move on, whilst your heart is holding on to something that will never come true!”

Joining Park Fires on the upcoming split single is Leeds trio The Boxing. Quickly gathering momentum and buzz with moody soundscapes, razor sharp melodies and hazy post-punk sound. The band have already garnered support from the likes of DIY, Dork, Clash and Louder Than War with the latter aptly describing this bright light of the Leeds DIY scene as “almost brutalist psychedelia”.

Park Fires will be launching their new single in conjunction at CPWM at The Lending Room in Leeds on Friday 4th May.

After the success of ‘Come Play’ a collection of 26 tracks, re-workings and remixes from some of West Yorkshires best artists which featured Wild Beasts, Napoleon IIIrd and The Wedding Present at the end of 2017, and singles from the likes of Harkin (Sleater Kinney, Wild Beasts), ZoZo, Magic Mountain (Members of Pulled Apart By Horses, Grammatics & Menace Beach), Fizzy Blood, Team Picture and Her Name is Calla among many others, CPWM will release 6 more split 7”s as well as a number of full length releases throughout 2018.
