Canon Blue shares “Beholden” video
New album Lasso Yo out 3 November
on Temporary Residence
Canon Blue has shared the official video for “Beholden” with Noisey who described the video as “A four-minute slow-motion, single shot video filled with nostalgic wonders.” The video was directed by Jouka Valkama as part of a dance project called See | Obey. “Beholden” is featured on Canon Blue’s album Lasso Yo due 3rd November on Temporary Residence.
“‘Beholden’ has its genesis in an old story I heard about the Māori people while traveling through New Zealand. It was one of the first songs I wrote for the record and is a song of reconciling the ideals and dreams of my youth with my adult reality – the idea of being forced into one direction in life where you can either accept the reality and truth of your life or you can live in denial in a futile fight against it.”
Lasso Yo is the third full-length from Canon Blue, the alter ego of Nashville producer-songwriter, Daniel James. It’s been over a half-decade since Canon Blue’s previous album, the Efterklang and Amiina-augmented orchestral pop opus, Rumspringa. Six years can feel like a lifetime, and James knows that all too well, and he tells the whole story on Lasso Yo.
Lasso Yo will be released in the UK on 3rd November via Temporary Residence.
