Ledbury Fringe set to showcase local musicians and celebrate local venues that continue to support live music.

Ledbury Fringe will run from 1st July to 9th July to coincide with the Ledbury Poetry Festival. The aim of the Fringe is to enable musicians and other performers to get involved with a festival that is already well established in Ledbury Town and to help to create a lively festival atmosphere.

Ledbury Fringe is being organised by a small but dedicated group of volunteers all of whom are giving their time to help develop this initiative. Ben Lewis, one of the group commented, “As a musician myself I know how important music is in bringing the community together and we are delighted to be able to develop this opportunity for both local talent and festival visitors alike”.

Ledbury Fringe events start on 1st July at The Retreat with The Rogues, a brilliant young band who formed to bring back the music of the ‘Swinging Sixties’ and continuing on 2nd July at The Prince of Wales with Will Killeen bringing his unique brand of Irish acoustic blues. The full list of events can be found on the Ledbury Fringe leaflet in the Ledbury Tourist Information Centre or at any of the venues across town including The Prince of Wales and The Retreat. Also look out for the numerous Buskers who will be entertaining the crowds throughout the town during the course of the festival. Updates will be posted on facebook at www.facebook.com/ledburyfringe/

There is a real treat in store for those who love the sound of a big band, Crescendo will be playing at The Pavilion Rooms, Ledbury Rugby Club on the 8th July. Tickets cost £10 in advance from www.ticketsource/ledburyfringe or can be purchased on the door £12.

Ledbury Fringe will be making its contribution to The Great Ledbury Celebration on 9th July, not only with buskers in and around the main Ledbury Market House area, but also with fringe performances elsewhere. The celebrations will continue right up to the evening of 9th July at The Retreat with Three Bone Joint bringing the weeks festivities to a close with an entertaining Blues inspired set, guaranteed to get everyone dancing.
