!!! (Chk Chk Chk) announce headline UK and Europe tour, new album Shake The Shudder out now
Back by popular demand, !!! (Chk Chk Chk) are pleased to announce a new headline European/UK tour, which comes hot on the heels of their passionately received and sold out recent live dates, and their new record ‘Shake The Shudder’.
The album gained critical acclaim and heavy BBC 6 music support, including Album Of The Day plus A-list playlist placement for previous single ‘The One 2′. The newest single ‘Dancing Is The Best Revenge’ is currently on the B-list, with the band due in for a Lauren Laverne live session on 31st July.

Longstanding New York heroes !!!’s new album ‘Shake The Shudder’ finds the group on fresh, energised top form and stands up as a highlight within their much-loved and prolific catalogue.
One of their most urgent and edgy long-players to date, ‘Shake The Shudder’ is a product of the band’s DIY post punk roots, which ensure they always gravitate towards new sounds. It presents a harder edge lyrically and sonically, incorporating transatlantic electronic influences like house, disco and broken beat, all propelled by a heavy funk fuel and a polyrhythmic, tribal drive akin to afrobeat.
The idea for the new album was born from jamming in Barcelona and playing live, then spending months afterwards cutting those recordings into loops to form new songs. Their dedication to their fans to create the best possible live and recorded experiences drives them to get the best out of both:
“Most of the songs on this record are based off of jams, and since we record every jam, most of the tracks here feature moments we actually recorded from those jams. Most artists have to dig through the crates to find that one sample nobody has used, but we can sample ourselves having been playing this style of music for a while now. Performing we try to play it the way James Brown’s JBs would, as producers we try to mix it the way a DJ would” explains Nic Offer.
!!! are typically regarded as a live band, something you have to experience in the flesh to truly comprehend. While their live shows are something to behold, they underscore the sheer musicianship and songwriting that goes into recording their albums. It’s a lot of hard work to make it look this easy.
