AMBER ARCADES

Shares the video for Wouldn’t Even Know
featuring Bill Ryder-Jones

Taken from new ‘Cannonball’ EP, out now on Heavenly Recordings

Amber Arcades, the moniker of Dutch-born musician Annelotte De Graaf, today shares the beautiful video for ‘Wouldn’t Even Know’ featuring Bill Ryder-Jones. ‘Wouldn’t Even Know’ is taken from the new five track ‘Cannonball’ EP, which was released last week (2nd June) on Heavenly Recordings.

Director Wander Andringa says of the stunning visuals, “Getting all the right elements together really worked for this video. An old Mercedes, two amazing characters, a dreamy band and the Dutch countryside. It’s a journey in which Annelotte and Bill find each other in the music, something that connects us even though we all have our differences. “

Annelotte said the following about the video:

“I wanted the video to look like the song sounds… Flowing at a certain pass, broody, yearning and uplifting. I also really love the Sonic Youth video for their version of “Superstar”, that inspired me to do a kind of live performance of the song for the video. Mixed together with the shots driving through the Dutch countryside I think it really captures the mood of the song. Wander did an awesome job, even though I’m pretty sure me and Bill weren’t the most easily directable “actors” (sneaking sessions watching football in a pub into the day’s program), haha.”

Bill Ryder-Jones said the following about the single:

“I was already a fan of Amber Arcades when I was asked to put a vocal on this. I’m quite jealous of Annelotte’s ability to find the right words to fit her melodies, it’s a rare thing these days. The song is beautiful”.

The ‘Cannonball’ EP was recorded at Strange Weather Studio in New York with producer Ben Greenberg whilst the band were on tour and is the follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed debut album Fading Lines. The EP opens with Amber Arcades’ reworking of the classic Nick Drake song, ‘Which Will’ featuring her trademark ethereal, hazy, krautrock sound and is available to listen to HERE. The BBC 6 Music A-Listed ‘It Changes’ follows, which is possibly Amber Arcades’ most irresistible and compelling pop single to date listen to it HERE. A video for Can’t Say That We Tried’ is available to watch HERE. The EP closes with the title track, the brand new and as-yet-unheard ‘Cannonball’. The artwork was designed by Nick Helderman who has photographed all of Amber Arcades’ artwork and photos to date.
