Amber Arcades unveil new single, “Can’t Say That We Tried”, taken from the upcoming Cannonball EP.

Songwriter Annelotte De Graaf says of the song, “I feel like a lot of times when I am attracted to a certain person or situation, it is not so much the person or situation itself but more my idea of what they represent, and this idea does not necessarily represent reality in any way. Getting to know people is scary because it necessarily requires you to bury your idealised version of a person and thereby bury a little piece of yourself or your childlike dreams maybe. But then again if you run away the moment someone doesn’t seem to nicely conform to your idealised vision you can’t really say you’ve tried or given anything a fair shot.” Listen below…

Amber Arcades, the moniker of Dutch-born musician Annelotte De Graaf,  will release a brand new five track EP entitled ‘Cannonball’ on 2nd June 2017 via Heavenly Recordings. The EP was recorded at Strange Weather Studio in New York with producer Ben Greenberg whilst the band were on tour and is the first new release since last year’s critically acclaimed debut album Fading Lines.

The ‘Cannonball’ EP opens with Amber Arcades’ reworking of the classic Nick Drake song, Which Will (from his seminal 1972 album Pink Moon) featuring her trademark ethereal, hazy, krautrock sound. It Changes follows, which is possibly Amber Arcades’ most irresistible and compelling pop single to date and which was described by The Line Of Best Fit as “something that goes a lot, lot deeper than your average feel good summer track”. The EP will feature three brand new tracks in the form of ‘Can’t Say That We Tried’, ‘Wouldn’t Even Know’ (featuring Bill Ryder-Jones on vocals) and the title track, ‘Cannonball’. The artwork was shot by Nick Helderman who has photographed all of Amber Arcades’ artwork and photos to date.

‘Cannonball’ will be available on LP & Digital. Pre-order the EP now with an Instant Grat of ‘Which Will’ and ‘It Changes’ HERE. The tracklisting is as follows:
