Critical acclaim for Life of Pause, out now on Bella Union:
“A mesmerising swirl of winsome hooks, subtle electronics and nods to influences old and new: Reichpop’s rippling marimbas evoke Philip Glass, A Womans’ Wisdom suggests a languid, chillwave The Cure, while the closing Love Underneath My Thumb even strays towards Kurt Vile’s zoned-out psychedelia.” Q Magazine – 4 stars ****
“With its cheeky repurposing of the polyrhythms favoured by the American composer for whom it’s named, Life Of Pause‘s opener, ‘Reichpop’ is a bold indication of Jack Tatum’s widening ambitions for Wild Nothing. Life of Pause demonstrates a more playful, and propulsive approach to his earlier chill-wave and dream-pop aesthetic.” Uncut – 8/10
“His most mature record to date… Richly textured, warm, colourful and hazy, Life Of Pause is beautifully constructed and boasts an exquisitely arranged soundscape.”
Future Music – 9/10
Life Of Pause is a luxurious step forward.” NME – 4 Stars ****
Life Of Pause feels like a natural progression… There’s a more self-assured swagger, backed with clear and confident production..” Record Collector – 4 Stars ****
“A soundscape straight from your wooziest daydream.” DIY – 4 Stars ****
“The influence of mid-80s UK pop on mid-10s US indie bears more fruit as Jack Tatum’s doleful pipes stir vulnerability into Wild Nothing’s strengthening mix of dreamy drift, glossy pops  shimmy and occasional stab of synth R&B. This is diaphanous pop music, full of sparkle and more variegated than before.” MOJO
“The album is studded with captivating moments and feats of technical brilliance… Satisfying hooks are rife throughout.” Crack
“Each time out, Wild Nothing evolves. Opener ‘Reichpop’ builds from a minimalist marimba beat to a Bombay Bicycle Club-style indie anthem, while the driving ‘To Know You’ features a bassline Peter Hook would be proud of.” Shortlist
Wild Nothing shared two cuts from the album, “TV Queen” and “To Know You”, just ahead of its release, both of which can be streamed via youtube HERE.
