Following the release of their debut album in January this year, Snowpoet prepare to release an EP of remixes from producers Vaun, Jeevan Rai and Jauge.
Jazz FM’s vocalist of the year, Lauren Kinsella, uses her improvisational virtuosity to create textured whispering, rhythmic babbling, punctuating breath and reverence to each note sung, all of which adds incredible opportunities for the producers.
Multi-instrumentalist and composer Chris Hyson’s aesthetic is evident in space in the music, the mystic undertones, prayer-like moments and deep contemplation, which all lend themselves as perfect partners to great beat-making.
Snowpoet’s previous releases have been supported by Impose Magazine, Earmilk, Amazing Radio, 1883, Louder than War, For Folk’s Sake, Folk Radio, Jazzwise and Black Plastic. This EP ends a great year for Snowpoet.
VAUN
Vaun is a solo electronic musician, DJ and producer from Bristol. His music can be described as melodic; bass orientated minimalism. Vaun seeks to strip back his productions and maintain a deeper, spatial sound. Vaun has a history of collaborating with vocalists such as Animai, Ill Chill and Sarah Zad.
Jeevan Rai
Jeevan Rai is a London-born laptop musician operating in the intersection of electronica and electroacoustic musics, with particular focus on improv and environmental sound. He has worked with Delta Saxes, Melanie Pappenheim, Max Baillie and Notes Inégales, and his work has been performed at the National Portrait Gallery, Great St Barts, Barbican PIT Lab and St John Sessions’ Listening Club. He is one half of free-improvising laptop duo jr~sd and is currently completing a doctoral thesis on topological representations of computer music.
JAUGE
Jauge is a producer and performer that has built his sound around his innovative approach to music. This can be seen in his live shows, where he has experimented by pairing a variety of analogue instruments with the electronic underpinning of his core digital setup.
